The MeSH unique IDs, for example D033221, look pretty stable to me.

However, the 'hidden ontology' of MeSH, I reckon, is that D033221 doesn't actually stand for "Jehovah's Witnesses", it stands for "biomedical papers about Jehovah's Witnesses". The "biomedical papers about..." bit is understood in the indexing process, which is why the definitions omit it.

MeSH makes a bit more (though not total) sense seen from this standpoint.

I'm a bit confused: in point 3 I say that MeSH doesn't have stable identifiers, not that PubChem doesn't. Could you clarify your objection?
